The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the world’s most popular English language proficiency test for higher education and global migration.
Choosing the right test
There are two IELTS tests available – IELTS Academic or IELTS General Training.
The test you choose should be based on what it is you want to do.
IELTS Academic - measures whether your level of English language proficiency and whether you’re ready to begin training or studying abroad.
IELTS General Training - measures English language proficiency in a practical, everyday context.
This Test is for Permanent Resident (PR), work abroad.
Both types of Test includes the following 4 elements:
- Listening
- Reading
- Writing
- Speaking
In these 4 elements:
Listening is common for both types of Tests.
Speaking is common for both types of Tests.
The writing test is almost similar with 40% of differences.
Reading is totally different for both exams.
IELTS is jointly owned by British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English.
